AVALON’S NOTORIOUS QUESTIONS: FELGUK
Brazilian duo Felguk was back to play CONTROL on 02/04. If you were there, you know they made it a crazy party with their bumping electro house. It was a crazy night here at Avalon, possibly even crazy enough to get the Felguk boys to show us their “chest-skating” skills…
AVALON: Ok NOW we’re here w @Felguk…
FELGUK: Hey @avalonhollywood we’re ready whenever you are!
AVALON: Hey guys! Whats up?
FELGUK: Hey! We’re good, just arrived from a long trip, but happy to be here once again!
AVALON: Happy to have you! Ok here we go: If you could open up for anyone (dead or alive and any genre of music) who would it be? Why?
FELGUK: I think it would be Led Zeppelin, we’re huge friends. But it would have to be with John Bonham, back from the grave.
AVALON: That’d be a cool show! Ok biggest track of the year?
FELGUK: For us it would be our track “2nite” it had a big impact on our career. For the scene in general @swedishousemfia’s “One” was huge!
AVALON: Definitely two HUGE tracks for this year!! Which gig has been the strangest gig? Why?
FELGUK: Lots of strange gigs, lol. Specially in the beginning of the career. But we would mention one time that we played in a “micareta” party. The main act is like a “moving show” called “trio electrico” that moves around a stadium, while we were static playing in the VIP room. Everytime the “trio eletrico” came by, we had to stop!
FELGUK: I hate 140 characters limit!
AVALON: Me too, always shortening words and using “chat” lingo… Looks awful!
AVALON: Ok if you could time travel, what year would you go to? why?
FELGUK: Gustavo: I’d go to Woodstock! Felipe would go to western times, you know, the cowboy movies…
AVALON: Ok what’s your guiltiest after-gig meal?
FELGUK: Good old McDonalds! Junk food after vodka makes your stomach a bit twisted, seven times around!
AVALON: Definitely, the next morning you don’t feel so hot. What’s your favorite hobby outside of DJing?
FELGUK: Eating Japanese food. Felipe plays soccer in the beach in Rio, while I stay under the shades drinking coconut water
AVALON: You guys are making me hungry for sushi and I LOVE COCONUT WATER! Anyways, are you guys obsessed with anything right now?
FELGUK: I’m obsessed with chocolate! Felipe is obsessed with the garlic rolls from C & O at Venice. We definitely like to eaaat!
AVALON: Seriously guys, you’re making me hungry, stop! Haha its dinnertime. If you weren’t DJs, what other career would you choose?
FELGUK: Felipe would be a professional homeless and I would be his manager…
AVALON: Hahaha! Hilarious! Before you both discovered your love for electro & house music, what were your music tastes like throughout life?
FELGUK: We were basically rock guys. From classic rock, to British melancholic rock, to heavy metal. Jamiroquai, Beatles, SOAD, U2.
AVALON: Nice! Love all those guys too. What’s your best drunken story?
FELGUK: Felipe “chest-skating” towards a police car in San Diego was quite memorable!
AVALON: Haha I’m not even sure what “chest-skating” is! What’s the first thing you’d spend your money on if you won the lottery?
FELGUK: Buying that paid trip to space, have you heard about it? It’s true! You can actually do that for a lot of money! Coool!
AVALON: Yea you can go to the moon or something crazy! What’s the recipe to your favorite cocktail?
FELGUK: 80% vodka, 20% sprite. And LARGE straws, please…
AVALON: Wow those are doo-zees! One drink & your drunk! If you were stuck on a deserted island w no cell reception or internet, what’s the one thing you’d want to have with you?
FELGUK: Mmmm, a sound system? Coconut water? Soccer ball? A chessboard? I’m not sure… Probably the coconut water is the best choice.
AVALON: Or how about something to open the coconuts already there? Super fresh coconut water! What’s the meaning behind the DJ alias “Felguk”?
FELGUK: “Fel” is for “Felipe”, “Gu” is for “Gustavo” and the “K” is just to make it sound cooler
Isn’t that obvious? LOL. We also like the design of the letter “K”, it has lots of attitude.
AVALON: Haha juuusst got it, but very clever. Ok last one: how is the dance music scene different in LA versus your guys’ hometown of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil?
FELGUK: In the clubs it’s about the same. People are really energetic both in LA and in Brazil, but in outdoors parties it’s a little different. I think in LA the crowd is more “ravey”, colorful, and younger as well. They dress up more but when the music starts the differences almost disappear again!
AVALON: Yep music is a universal language
FELGUK: It was a pleasure! Can’t wait for our show there at Avalon tomorrow! Cya there!
